About Michael

With over two decades of experience, Michael is a seasoned guitarist and music educator. He honed his skills at Bloomsburg University, earning a bachelor's degree in Music Performance. During his time there, he was 1st chair in the Bloomsburg University Guitar Quartet and played guitar for the Bloomsburg University Jazz Ensemble. Michael's academic journey also included a strong focus on music theory, composition, and orchestration, subjects he continues to explore in his spare time. ​

As a dedicated instructor, Michael brings over twenty years of teaching experience in guitar, mandolin, banjo, and ukulele. His teaching philosophy goes beyond just the basics; he fosters creativity through improvisation, composition, chord progression development, ear training, sight reading, and problem-solving. Michael's goal is to help his students master their favorite songs while developing a deep understanding of music. ​ Michael's musical interests span various genres, including rock, classical, bluegrass, jazz, and funk. He has played in numerous bands and performed at various events, from wedding receptions to Penn State's renowned "THON" fundraiser.
